If you're concerned about climate change but just can't do without a car, then trade your petrol guzzler for a better one - a hybrid car (one that combines petrol and electric power) or an all-out electric car. At 12,000 miles a year, a Prius for example produces 40% less CO2 than the average saloon car.
Or turn your car into a better car by sharing it. The more people in a car, the less cars on the road and the less CO2 spluttered into the world. So get sharing with colleagues, friends or relatives or try a car sharing company where you can tie up with people going the same way as you.

Here's a thing... Breathing the air in central London is equivalent to smoking 30 cigarettes a day because of road traffic pollution (in Oxford it's over 3 packs a day). Meanwhile there are millions of empty seats in cars on the road every single day. Hmmm, tricky to see what could possibly help... If half of UK drivers got one lift a week, they'd each save the same amount of CO2 each year as 36 trees. In other words, a lot.
