Cardless Christmas

Tomorrow is December 1 - and as well as the excitement of opening that first advent calendar window - it may also be time to think about Christmas.

Our friends at JustGiving - are helping people All Consume this Christmas by avoiding all the waste and cost and carbon of Christmas cards - and instead making more efficient donations to charity.  They've even been kind enough to set up a page to raise money for Green Thing.

So this year why not set up a Christmas JustGiving page for the charity of your choice and encourage your friends and family to do the same? That way, instead of sending charity Christmas cards, you can send each other a minimum donation of £2.00, 100% of which will go straight to the charity and if you’re a UK tax payer, they’ll also reclaim Gift Aid on the charity’s behalf.

Not only is it the most efficient way to donate to charity this Christmas, but you’ll also be beating the traditional rush for the Christmas post and reducing your carbon footprint at the same time.

There’s all sorts of ways you can turn your JustGiving page into a virtual Christmas card. Why not include a review of the year? Or, if you have a smartphone or video recorder, you could upload a Christmas video message. And don’t forget to say why you’re supporting your chosen charity. You can also edit the thank you e-mail that goes out to your sponsors to include a Christmas message.

And if you fancy supporting Green Thing
