Cod This Spell The End Of Japanese Whaling?

We posted about Paul Watson, leader of the Sea Shepherd eco activists who regularly do battle with Japanese whalers, here before.

According to Greenpeace, bureaucratic waste cost-cutting programs by the Japanese government could succeed where Paul's eco pirates on the high seas haven't yet.

There's talk of shutting down the Japanese Overseas Fisheries Co-operation Fund, which has provided about $164 million in subsidies to Japan's whaling industry over the last decade. Without this funding, Japanese whaling would be in serious trouble.

(Some have suggested that getting high profile celebrities  like Skate Moss, Nicole Squidman or Mussel Crowe involved would help save the whalers but I have my doubts).
