Just so that everyone's clear and everything's covered, these are the Terms and Conditions for Barnet’s Green Thing free online prize draw. This covers both the Grand Prize draw of a year's green energy (worth £600) and the Weekly Prize Draws for the best two stories for a green prize (worth £25).

1. ELIGIBILITY: This draw is open to any person resident in the London Borough of  Barnet (UK) who is 18 years of age or older at the time of entry. (However, no members of Barnet Council, their agency partners or their immediate families are eligible to enter).

2. TO ENTER:  To enter the Grand Prize draw, simply join the  Barnet Green Thing Use It Up OR Plug Out & Walk group at either http://www.dothegreenthing.com/useitup OR http://www.dothegreenthing.com/plugout</p>

To enter the Weekly prize draw, join one of the 2 groups above and then submit a story (or stories) by clicking "Add a Story" from the orange navigation box.

Green Thing is not responsible for lost, corrupted or delayed entries. Only one entry per person will be accepted. No purchase necessary. Entry constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of these Terms and Conditions.

Green Thing reserves the right to disqualify anyone in breach of these Terms and Conditions.

3. TIMING: The Grand Prize promotion to win a year's supply of green electricity runs from 12.01:00 am GMT on 1 June 2009 until 11.59:59 p.m. on 30 June 2009 (inclusive).

The promotion to win a Weekly Prize for the best story shared on the site runs as follows:

Barnet's Use It Up group weekly prizes will start from the week beginning June 8th, 2009 and finish on July 31st, 2009.

Barnet's Plug Out & Walk group weekly prizes will start from the week beginning June 15th and finish on August 7th, 2009.

4. USE OF DATA: Personal data that you provide when you enter the draw may be used for future Green Thing marketing activity.

5. SELECTION OF WINNERS: The Winner of the Grand Prize (a year's green electricity) will be determined by a random prize draw conducted by Green Thing no later than 8 July 2009 and will be supervised by an independent adjudicator.

Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received.  The winner will be notified by email no later than 30 July.   If a potential winner cannot be contacted, through no fault of Green Thing, within TEN (10) days after the first attempt, an alternative winner will be selected at random. The winners may be required to participate in further publicity or advertising.

The Winners of the two Weekly Prizes (one for the Use It Up group and one for the Plug Out & Walk group) will be drawn at random by Barnet Council representatives from the stories submitted during that week.

The prizes will be decided and awarded the following week. So for stories submitted the week beginning, say, July 6th, 2009, the two prizes for that week's stories will be awarded sometime during the following week beginning. July 13th, 2009.

6. PRIZE: For the Grand Prize there will be a single prize of one years supply of renewable electricity from Good Energy up to the value of £600. The prize is as stated and is not transferable.  No cash alternatives available. Green Thing reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value.

The Weekly Prizes for the best stories on each group (Use It Up and Plug Out & Walk) will be worth up to £25 each. No cash alternatives available.

7. WINNERS LIST: The winners consent to their surname being made publicly available.

8. OTHER: No correspondence will be entered into regarding either this promotion or these Terms & Conditions. In the unlikely event of a dispute, Green Thing’s decision shall be final.  Green Thing reserve the right to amend, modify, cancel or withdraw this promotion at any time without notice.
