2010 is the International Year for Biodiversity and among the many campaigns going on, Concrete Jungle is quite an ambitious one. Supported by Cool it Schools and the National History Museum, Concrete Jungle calls itself 'the most dynamic conservation project in the UK' and its got loads of activities and new ideas to get young people thinking about climate change.
The first goal of Concrete Jungle has been to get as many as possible of the 26,000 schools in Britain to sign on and commit to a certain square meter dimension that they would commit to developing a wildlife garden. Teachers can also download a resource pack with lots of activities, lesson plans and fact sheets.
Some of Green Thing's team got a chance to see the launch of the project, and the first meter of the project dug. Now, only a week later 10,000 more meters have been done! Their target is 300,000. It's an inspiring project to see so many schools and young people linking up to take part- well done!
