Mention charity shop shopping to lots of people and an image of saggy cardigans, cat jigsaw puzzles and shelves of VHS tapes loom into view. Oxfam want to change this and show the world that charity doesn't mean unfashionable. They have released a Spring 2012 lookbook, put together using only clothes they have for sale in Oxfam shops. And the result is something that wouldn't look out of place at London Fashion Week.
Vintage dresses, cute tees, sexy shoes and plenty of this season Topshop, many Oxfam shops are bursting with fashionable outfit possibilities, and all for a fraction of their original price.
Each Oxfam retail store will be given a report detailing all the latest fashion trends to help encourage and support the shops into finding and showcasing items that people genuinely want. This means we can shop our All-Consuming hearts out on a shoestring budget and still find up to the minute clothes. Plus we're still giving money to Oxfam. It's win win and another positive step in highlighting just how fabulous charity shops are.
If that wasn't enough, Oxfam have teamed up with the VVVintage and several designers to upcycle and transform the second hand clothes and materials to create some stunning high end fashion pieces. It wont be long until we're choosing between Chanel and Oxfam for our favourite fashion label....
If you want more proof that you can buy gorgeous outfits second hand then take a peek at Ms Wanda and The End Of The New. These two stylish women will show you that charity shopping is most definitely not about drab or frumpy clothes.
