Sense and Sustainability

The Copenhagen Wheel is "A new mode of transport for a rapidly changing world"so they claim. How so? Slap on this new high tech wheel to turn your bicycle into a hybrid electric bike which a) allows you to harness regenerative breaking energy like the Prius and b) connect with your smart phone to sense and display the mobile environment - e.g. map pollution levels, traffic congestion, and road conditions in real-time.

It's certainly an innovative way to Pedal the Pedals. You use your smart phone to lock or unlock the bike, change gears, work out how much stored braking power you want to use in the motor on hills, or share info about your fitness levels, routes or traffic congestion with friends on a social network (and then crash into a lampost because you weren't looking at the road?).
