Peer +, a Dutch company, is currently working on some very innovative solar panel windows. The Smart Energy Glass window allows aesthetics and renewable energy to be conciliated. There is a variety of colours and inter-switchable modes to choose from thus becoming the absolute interface between the inside and the outside.

Their customizable appearance is definitely an asset, but the technology which allows switching between the three modes - dark, bright and privacy - raises some concerns. Indeed one can notice that the conversion rate from solar energy to electrical power becomes very low when the bright state is chosen.

Alternatively it becomes higher when switched on the dark or privacy modes, thus letting less light through.

One must consider that this beautiful project is still in the developing stages and that the company is searching for more projects to test the product on.
