Do The Green Thing: Superfast Brighton Belle

At a time when a new 250mph high-speed rail link is being built costing £30 billion it's worth remembering the wonderful Brighton Belle running on the Southern Railway electrified line from London (Victoria) to Brighton in 1933.

According to this post, the BBC 'Interlude' video above shows the 54 mile London to Brighton trip taking only 4 minutes at an average speed of 810 mph.

Can that be right?
