Think Green at IQ2 Green Festival

The IQ2 Green Festival is taking place on Sunday January 25 2009 at The Royal Geographical Society, London, 10.45 am to 8 pm and with Green Thing you can get a 20% discount.

The IQ2 Green Festival is a non-profit event to raise awareness and stimulate debate on all aspects of climate change and look at what we can do to tackle the challenges it presents.
Run by debating organization Intelligence Squared and supported by the Green Thing. Specialist speakers from around the world will take part in discussions and debates designed so the audience gets the chance to put them on the spot and ask the questions about global warming they long to have answered. A group of sixth formers chosen with the Royal Geographical Society will run the first debate of the day. Chaired by polar explorer Ben Saunders, these students will debate the motion ‘Climate change is the greatest threat facing humanity’.

Then the global warming experts will take over. Nobel Prize laureate Mohan Munasinghe, Professor Robert Watson – DEFRA’s Chief Scientific Advisor, Christine Loh – one of TIME magazine’s ‘Heroes of the Environment’, Stanley Johnson – UN environmental ambassador (and father of Boris) and Tony Juniper, Special Advisor to the Prince’s Rainforests Trust are just some of speakers involved. ‘Countdown to Armageddon - how long have we got?’, ‘Can Asia go green? (and if it doesn't has the world had it?)’, Can technological innovation save us from disaster?’ and ‘Western political parties aren't serious about climate change’ are some of the subjects that will be discussed.

And there’s plenty of fun to be had outside the debating rooms: check out award-winning climate change photos by the Prix Pictet, test drive an electric car, investigate a solar home, and win green prizes worth hundreds of pounds.
The IQ2 Green Festival is pleased to be able to offer Green Thing supporters 20% off the price of tickets – put in the code greenthing when purchasing your Tickets.
