Win a SIGG

The kind people at SIGG are helping us celebrate World Tap Water Week by giving us some water bottles to give away.

So how do you win the "World's Toughest Water Bottle", how can a shiny, special, plastic-free, reusable SIGG be yours all yours?

Just tell us why you like tap in 140 characters or less.

That’s it.

You can enter the competition with a comment at the bottom of this post. Or tweet your answer including the tag #iliketap so we can find it. Or visit our Facebook page and share there (still in 140 characters or less please).

We’ll pick five winners every day this week (based on the rigorous selection process of which ones we happen to like depending on the mood we’re in ;-) and post off the winning SIGGS to you post-haste.

May the Tap be with you.

I too live in a country where we don't have clean drinking water from the tap, so we are forced to buy bottles. We do use reusable 19 litre bottles though. There is nothing better than taking a big sip from some of the mountain streams around the island though. It always tastes cleaner and more pure than the stuff in the bottle!

After an agonising six months, I managed to convince my colleagues at the office to get rid of the water fountain in the office - which not only had water in those horrible massive bottles, but some people were choosing plastic over glasses. Now everybody drinks out of the tap - with a glass/reusable bottle!

I have been in Ghana. There is no clean water in Ghana beside bottle water and cleaned water in small plastic bags. I missed that much just to take from the tap every time I was thirsty.... We should be grateful to have this clean tap water. We should appreciate it.

Hate to be a killjoy but... since when did Sigg become plastic-free. I bought one a few years ago and another for my partner not that long ago. Then I heard they were plastic-lined (unlike some other brands like Kleen Canteen - see http://www.sustainlane.com/reviews/klean-kanteen/OU2KMCNRPIPLRUPDLTXXSBTAF3MC) and should not be used for hot tea, or left in the sun but couldn't find confirmation on the Sigg websites so I wrote the company and this is their reply: "The SIGG EcoCare Liner is a bake-on, polymer powder coating which is sprayed evenly onto the bottle interior and bonded to the aluminum shell at nearly 200 degrees Celsius to form a permanent, flexible barrier. The liner is non-toxic. The SIGG EcoCare Liner ensures no taste or odor transfer and leach-free durability. This liner has been thoroughly tested and is certified to be 100% free of BPA, phthalates, BADGE, BFDGE, and NOGE. I do not have any more detailed information than this, sorry. I like tap because It's not too cold nor too hot. Also, I travel a lot, and like to compare tastes around the States! Does anyone else get peeved when they give you a water bottle at restaurants? Why would I want to pay $1.50 for something that comes naturally from my own faucet! Plus, carrying around a water bottle is much more hip and functabulous than a dented and flimsy plastic bottle!

hi, i like this. this is great! because when you use this bottle, other people can see the words:"i am not plastic". it may raise others' awareness: use plastic bottle or other plastic products, they may feel guilty. everyone can make a change if they just do something, do a little change. if i use this bottle, i will feel proud of this bottle, tell other people, this bottle is not plastic, you can use this kind of bottle too.

I like tap because... it’s free, much more environmentally friendly, can be filled up beforehand and taken to my lectures, swimming, walking etc, I'm not supporting plastic waste and the pollution gone into creating, dumping and even recycling them into new ones. I am just able to have my own bottle which I can use time and time again from water which I know is clean and fresh enough to drink! Lush. :)

Let's face it, tap water is cheap and accessible. I wake up every morning and all I need to do, is turn the tap. (Instead of opening a 1.5 litre PLASTIC bottle of *insert fruit* squash just for it to be thrown in some landfill somewhere a week later, adding to the already non-biodegradable mess we live in.) Turning a little tap which probably takes less energy than opening a bottle and which aids in turning our planet green. Something so simple can do so much. That's why I love tap water!
