A final word from Ninjin

Ninjin returned, albeit briefly, to give a rare interview with Green Thing. He also awarded 10 lucky subscribers with copies of "Grown in Britain". Ninjin has since vanished but left behind these words of wisdom for the 10 winners.

Congrats to the following winners:

Ianjbarker: "I dig seasonal vegetables because, it's Halloween whoop whoop, best time for pumpkin soup."

Alexlee303: I dig seasonal veg because its cheaper and riper. It's a no-brainer!

Emma: "I dig seasonal veg because you can't truly appreciate the value of a single berry till you've done battle with the hedge!

Cterkuile: "I dig seasonal veg because...that's when I have meaningful conversations with my dad. Men don't talk face-to-face, they talk shoulder-to-shoulder."

Laura: "I dig seasonal veg because it's like tantric eating-u have to delay the pleasure 'til the food is in season."

Claire: "I dig seasonal veg because seasonal soup makes sense - it really is like a hug on the inside. Also this is nice: http://www.earthlypursuits.com/AllotGuide/DigforVictory1/DigForVictory1_2-3.htm"

Nele: "I dig seasonal veg because wouldn't want upset Ninjin."

Erica: "I dig seasonable veg because each season's harvest has a purpose that we don't always understand - or respect. Eating what is offered, we don't even have to think. Just accept. Receive. Enjoy."

CrispyChrisJ: "I dig seasonal veg because air freight is just plane wrong."

Taffgirl1: "I dig seasonal veg because I'm old enough to remember when you could not get veg out of season so you would look forward to your favourites much more as they came around again! Your meals would very with the season which is probably how it should be..."

Thank you to everyone who participated, Ninjin for his interview and Eat Seasonably for helping to make it all possible.

Busy Skies

This photo is brilliant. It's this week's winner from Gizmodo's weekly photo competition. The brief was composites, stacking subjects from the same place at different moments in time. Although it looks unbelievable (and it isn't technically real) this could just be a snap shot of the future.

Our skies are too full! Stay grounded.
