Green Thing can't get enough of Unconsumption. Like for example, this video of a DIY bowl from an old record.
The Unconsumption Tumblr is a team effort involving several volunteer contributors and who share all kinds of interesting upcycled, recycled, reused, preloved goodness. The blog identifies its terms as so:
"Consumption is a word used to describe acts of acquisition – generally, the acquisition of things, in exchange for money. Unconsumption is a word used to describe everything that happens after an act of acquisition. Unconsumption means the accomplishment of properly recycling your old cellphone, rather than the guilt of letting it sit in a drawer. Unconsumption means the thrill of finding a new use for something that you were about to throw away".
They track down all sorts of gems, like this twister jacket.

And this bottle coat rack.

Check out Unconsumption for ideas. It's a wonderful mashup between sticking with what you got and being all-consuming.
