make your own autie carlisle green thing double-sweater

This may look complicated but it isn't, it's really easy. First, print the pattern and place it over a double-folded piece of material. Use an old piece of unused but much loved material for maximum environmental cosiness. Align the straight edge of the pattern to the fold in the cloth, fasten them together with pins then cut carefully. Repeat with a second piece of folded material.

Cut the notch on top of the shoulders, then pin and stitch the two pieces of material together along the sides and sleeves up to the shoulder. On the neck, cuffs and bottom of the sweater, iron the seams to a depth of 1 inch, pin and stitch, then turn your double-sweater inside out so it's the right way round.

Choose five buttons for the neckline - again I would suggest old, unused but much loved buttons for maximum environmental cosiness. Place along the front of the neckline then along the back of the neck make corresponding snips to create five buttonholes. Stitch the buttonholes, mark them out with pins then use them to align the buttons on the front and sew them on.

Create two beautiful Green Thing label and add your name or, even better, mine. Stitch one on the front and one inside the neckline then you're ready to go. To wear it, leave your heating off, accost a really close friend, put one arm each in a sleeve, put the other arm wherever feels right and cuddle up for some special double-sweater Human Heat . . .
