The world and its water are like a balding man and his hair. Neither can make any more of it, and the total amount at either’s disposal is only ever going to recede.
But ‘ah’ you might be thinking. ‘Ah – the world’s full of water. There’s oceans and rivers and lakes and the Dudley public swimming baths.’ Well, yes – but about 97% of the world’s water is unusable, and 2.5% is inaccessible.
So we’ve got to take care not to waste what’s left. Problem is, thanks to power showers and other lifestyle changes, we’re using more water than ever.
Which is why using less in the shower is a good way forward. If everyone in the UK cut their showering time in half, we’d save 3.6 billion litres every single day.
So take some Short, Sharp Showers this month and save some precious water. A planet without water is about as much good as a bald man in a shampoo ad.

Why? Tell you why.
Say a flat mate or partner or annoying person in the gym asks you why you just took a short, sharp shower. Draw yourself up, look said ruffian in the eye and use one of these witty comebacks.

What about showering less? Do we really need a shower every day??

The Shower Manager! A really brilliant idea if your shower-timing skills need a bit of serious sharpening up. You basically set how long you'll be showering for, and once that time's up, the water flow reduces by half, giving you just enough flow to rinse off and get out. It seems they'll be releasing a new version of the product really soon so please do keep checking their website - http://www.showermanager.com.

If you need a bit of help making your showers shorter and sharper, get yourself a shower timer. Check these ones out at http://www.watergrouppromotions.co.uk/b2c/shop/ripple.aspx. They even did a study on how much money and CO2 you can save if you switch from a 7 to a 4 minute shower for various shower types - http://www.watergrouppromotions.co.uk/b2c/showertimersavings.aspx.
