Most washing machines can handle a 6 kg load of laundry, yet a Which? survey found that the typical household wash weighs in at a puny 2 kg. In other words, we under-fill our labour-saving machines. Not just washing machines but dryers and dishwashers too.
The problem is that half-loads can use almost as much water and energy as full loads, whatever setting the machines are on. And this wasted energy is mainly created by burning fossil fuels which causes pollution and climate change.
So just say no to half-loads and save cash, CO2 and thousands of gallons of water a year.

Here’s a thing...everyone knows you shouldn’t do things by halves. Going off half cocked is never a sensible idea, especially with your trousers at half mast – it’s all a bit half-arsed. Whatever you're doing, do it full steam ahead, in full force and at full throttle. Once you’re in full swing you’ll find yourself full of beans and full of the joys of spring too. You can see where this is going. Don’t use your labour-saving machines on half-load, it’s half-baked. Fill them up every chance you get - then feel full of yourself too.
