eBay will soon be launching reusable boxes. This is one of those ideas that probably should have been introduced ages ago, least not for the impact they'll have on minimising waste and packaging, but also for the convenience factor. Part of the beauty about eBay is that anyone can can buy or sell items- but with so man... Read More >>

Politicians to answer your questions – and we ask, are we entering an Age of Stupid? BROADCAST / PHOTO OPPORTUNITY 18:00, Tuesday, 2nd. June, 2009. Ibstock Community College, Main Hal, Central Avenue, Ibstock, LE67 6NE Local, European and global concerns will have an unprecedented opportunity for an airing at a première of film 'Age of Stupid', followed by a 'Question Time' slot for people to put varied questions to a panel of local politicians and an academic from De Montfort University. On Tuesday 2nd., North West Leicester shire residents will have their eyes further opened to the urgency of climate change at a local screening of a powerful new film called The Age of Stupid – screened by Ibstock does Climate Change and funded by the Districts 'Footprints Challenge' . The Age of Stupid stars Pete Postlethwaite as a man living alone in the devastated world of 2055. The film looks at opportunities for tackling climate change that we are today ignoring then fast-forwards into a desolate future where climate change has wreaked havoc. It makes a powerful case for acting fast to keep climate change within safer levels. The Age of Stupid hits cinemas in the run up to a crucial United Nations climate summit in Copenhagen, Denmark, at the end of 2009 – where countries from around the world will try to agree how to protect the world from dangerous climate change. Answering questions, be they the shape of the future economy, energy and global security, housing, transport or environmental protection will be a panel consisting of: David Taylor M.P. (Member of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee) Prof. Paul Fleming (De Montfort University Institute of Energy & Sustainable Development) Bill Newton Dunn M.E.P. Standing in the European elections for the Liberal Democrat Party Barney Smith. Standing in the European elections for the Green Party James Parker. Standing in the European elections for the Jury Team 'Question Time' will be chaired by David King, Headteacher of Ibstock Community College. Jonathan O'Farrell, spokesperson for Ibstock does Climate Change said: “The film shows today’s dilemmas on climate change in a new light, making us realise that by not investing in a low carbon future now we are now passing up opportunities for a safer future here in the East Midlands, as well as globally.” “Having seen the film, people should take a message to local and European politicians, as well as the current Government that, together, we mustn’t squander the chance to achieve a strong and just international climate agreement at the United Nations talks in Copenhagen this December. And that agreement, is as strong as the science say it needs to be.” Franny Armstrong, Director of The Age of Stupid has revealed: "The more I worked on the film over the last five years, the more I understood how desperately serious the climate crisis has become. Our hope is that the film inspires everyone everywhere to join the effort to move human civilisation out of The Age of Stupid and into a new era based on equality, sustainability and happiness"
