About saved

SAVED is a new initiative from Green Thing that takes old, unfashionable, undesirable T-shirts, washes them, hand-stitches saved lettering onto them, adds a SAVED story (saved from bad taste, saved from disrepair, saved from neglect) and in doing so makes each T-shirt better than new, a bit more fashionable and a lot more desirable.

You can buy and wear a specially hand-stitched T-shirt that's better than new and SAVED for just twenty pounds (plus VAT and postage). The money goes to Green Thing which is a not-for-profit organisation set-up to inspire people to lead greener lives and which gives all profits to its registered charity Green Thing Trust. (And you might even end up with a T from someone famous and talented ;-)

Or Send us a T to donate your unwanted and unloved T-shirt to Green Thing because the opposite of wasted is Saved.

SAVED is part of what Green Thing calls All-Consuming - the art of wasting nothing and using up everything.

Hi Daj, there isn't a sizing chart as every T-shirt is different, but each T listed in our shop is listed as it's original size. So if it is a small, then it's a standard small T (sized 8-10 UK). Does that help?

Hi Siobhan - thanks for blogging about Saved! Green Thing is not-for-profit so all money we get goes into the cause - creating an inspiration feed of ideas, campaigns, products to help as many people as possible in as many countries as possible to do the Green Thing. Green Thing is powered more by love than money but there are costs for people, content production, computers, accounting, that sort of thing. Any profits beyond that go to our environmental charity Green Thing Trust which exists to fight climate change. Hope that helps answer. thx

I really like this! I wrote this article about it: http://bit.ly/btE6Ru and my friend asked, what do you do with the money made from the t-shirts?

Great idea guys! The beauty is that it's a virtuous circle - when I receive my Saved T-Shirt I'm going to send back one of my old ones!

Thanks amatola, well the Saved shop is online (Facebook now, site soon) so that's kind of like being in Cape Town too ;-) We'd love to open a physical shop for Saved so if that's something you can help lets discuss hello@dothegreenthing.com -- thx
