Hi there! I eagerly ordered a pair of gloves late last week - any idea when they might arrive? I'm all out having lost yet another pair and I'm loathe to give in and get another store bought pair? Lisa Borough, London

i am an amputee and could use a couple of left winter gloves and maybe a work glove or two. I hate paying for pairs of gloves and trying to find someone who can use the right. I wear a man's medium to large. will you consider an exchange for a few right hand gloves? You might also consider expanding your services to afghanistan and iraq vets (i am a vietnam vet) who have lost upper limbs. if you are interested i can get some contact info together for you.

I bought another two pairs this year. One for me and one for my boyfriend. I didn't want to buy new gloves, ya know, to live simply, but I figured two pairs of gloves is okay, haha. Anyway, Love Glove did it again! I'm so happy with them!

Why don't you do the same for "single" lonely socks! Think of how many single socks seemingt " disappear. I suspect most people simply throw the remaining sock in the bin

Hi Samkimmins. Sorry about that - we had a few problems with the postage and packaging details but it is fixed now! Thanks for letting us know.

Great idea - just bought 3 pairs! But I don't get it - If I buy one male and one female pair, I have to pay £4 postage. But buying 2 female or 2 male pairs, I only have to pay £2 postage... same number of gloves, why don't I get the saving for a mixed order?

Great idea! I used to do this as a youngster and got called 'weird' and 'tasteless'. Bet you those same folk are keen to jump on the Green-wagon now!

What a lovely idea? what about doing the same with ear rings...? I have a few odd single ones that could do with a partner? there must be a way to sterilise them for hygiene reasons..and it is perhaps a bit gender specific but it would be great if there was a way it could work...

how about expanding your marketing such as shirts with the logo on it. hemp necklaces with the logo on it but make it out of 100% recycled material.

Please can I send you a cheque for £6.50 and my address? I prefer for various reasons not to pay online. Let me know how much it is to process the cheque and I'll add that... lawmalinda@yahoo.co.uk

Well done guys what a novel idea... You should send all your 'Glove loves' out with ribbon to be fed through the owners coat sleeves so they are never lost again. That would really be environmentally friendly. Glove Guv www.unlovedglove.com

hi Suzanne - yes, we thought about socks but wondered if the hygiene factor was a problem. Somehow even washed someone else's socks are less appealing, certainly less romantic than rescued lost, lonely gloves. I don't know though - in principle it should work I guess. Perhaps Glove Love can inspire people to start combining single items for themselves which solves the hygiene problem ;-)

Ooops, sorry about that Mandy. If you want we can post you out a couple of r/h Green Thing labels and you can sew them into your other gloves to make your own DIY Glove Love pairs?

Hi jennyblaney - yes, we're looking into making this part of the order process: http://www.getsatisfaction.com/green_thing/topics/gloves_for_vegans For now though if you order a pair and then email glovelove@dothegreenthing.com with that request we'll make sure you get wool ones. thx

To comment on the sock idea, I think it could have legs (pun intended). Might be worth checking in with this company that makes t-shirts out of trash and they reference the process by which they sanitize or "de-stink" the materials used in production. Might be something you could leverage in your process and would give piece of mind to the consumers.

Hi NYBrowne - we had a team meet and decided that we'd LOVE you to knit us a scarf, but it would be a one-off, like this double-jumper http://www.dothegreenthing.com/content/make_your_own_autie_carlisle_double_sweater. Making scarves from unused or old material is a lovely idea but doesn't quite fit the Glove Love principle of taking two or more wasted single parts and combining them into a new pair or collection (see http://www.dothegreenthing.com/blog/take_two_lost_halves_and_add_them_together). thanks!

How about a green thing scarf campaign? Knitting is back in vogue and everyone has odds and ends in their stash. Knit a scarf from leftover yarn and donate it to green thing to sell alongside glove love? If you like the idea, then I'll knit one!

My daughter never wears matching socks - she'd love a pair of these! I agree "sock love" might present a hygiene problem, and anyway most people have enough pairs of socks that they can pair up the lonely ones unassisted. Maybe you could add an "allergies or aversions" box to the order form?
TRC over 3 years ago.
andyh
Hadn't thought of that. I guess if someone was terribly upset we'd prob swap them.

we thought about socks but wondered if the hygiene factor was a non-starter. I mean technically if they're washed they're washed but somehow socks seem less appealing. I don't know though - what do you reckon? Perhaps Glove Love can inspire people to start combining single items for themselves which solves the hygiene problem ;-)
