  <title>Revived my iPod</title>
<content>I was as sad as the sad icon on my iPod Mini when it crashed. iPods are just not built to last. Now, I know since it's a Mini it's obvious I've had it for awhile, but really I had not used it all that much and I felt like it should have lasted a LOT longer in terms of playing hours. If Sony Walkman CD players broke down as easily back in the day, there would have been consumer outrage - or at least people would switch to another brand.

I took it to the Apple store to see if they could fix it. &quot; We're sorry, we can't repair it as it's SOOO OLD. It's out of warranty. We can sell you a new one, though.&quot; Oh really, I can buy a new iPod? I wasn't aware of that. I got a picture in my head of thousands of sad iPods piled up in landfill somewhere.

I resolved to replace it with another brand if I could not get it fixed. Happily, I found a third party supplier who replaced the hard drive at a fraction of the cost of a new iPod - much better for the environment.

Happy iPod, once more...but I won't buy another one in the future unless they improve the quality!</content>

<comment>Glad you got it fixed Devon.

If it happens again, there's a brilliant place just off Tottenham Court Road that has a 'mend an ipod for a tenner' service</comment>

<comment>Great stuff Devon - who was your third party supplier?

Sarah - what's the name of your brilliant place?

I'm sure there are hundreds of thousands of people who would rather fix their ipods then pay for another vapid upgrade.</comment>

<comment>I researched several on the internet, but UK iPod repairs had received a good review from Time Out. http://www.ukipodrepairs.com/

I had to replace the hard drive, so it was more than a tenner, but cheaper than a new iPod. Worth checking out that place on TCR if you're not sure whether you need a new hard drive. </comment>
