Jonathan O’Farrell, local Chair of Ibstock does Climate Change, said, “I know, for sure, people around here are feeling the pinch, so we set out to create the ‘brand’ Ibstock does and this event will demonstrate, in many practical ways that really, necessity is the mother of invention. Whether your first priority is to cut your bills, lower your environmental impact, or both, there are win – win opportunities to be had, for all of us.†Penney Poyzer, said, “I was delighted to be invited to an event that really celebrates the sheer fun that can be had when a group of people work together. At the end of the day, we have as human basic needs: good food, clean water, a roof over our heads and warmth. Mind you, at time when our economy is tail spinning, a sense of community really comes into its own. Looking after each other, sharing resources and skills is a great way to make new friends. It comes down to making a simple choice, to live more simply, use less and share more. (B)eat your Bills! is, after all, a great excuse to have a party to celebrate us being fabulous and creative human beings!"†Louise Brown-Powell, Director of the Miss Earth U.K. contest (6) concluded, “Our contestants, are encouraged to engage with community activity as part of Miss Earth. It is an event of style and glamour where women from all over the world are empowered to bring new meaning to beauty pageants by focusing on and promoting environmental awareness. Our contestants may be global in aspiration but realise that change at home and in our communities is also very worthwhile, in so many ways.â€
