I think many businesses are waking up to the fact that climate change is a reality and then need to get ahead of coming legislation and show brand leadership... M&S certainly get that, to a lesser extent (at least in terms of actions) Tesco seem to as well.

A recent blog posting on the blog site of SolarUK, the solar thermal energy company, mentions that last year Tesco opened a store in Manchester with an on-site Combined Heat and Power plant - so maybe the supermarkets are heading in the right direction.
