Green Thing was started by Naresh Ramchandani and Andy Hobsbawm, two people with backgrounds in off and online communications who wanted help make an environmental difference.

Green Thing is currently manned and womanned by Kim Rutherford, Katherine Hui, Andrew Wanliss-Orlebar, Jamie Andrews, Hayden Brown James Alexander, as well as Naresh and Andy.

Green Thing's non-exec directors are Rod Schwartz , ex-chair of Shelter and Justgiving.com and Linda Garforth, ex-CFO of BT Business and BT Wireless.

Green Thing is endorsed by 9 of the finest environmental brains on the planet. They are Dr. Wangari Maathai, Nobel Prizewinner and tree-planter extraordinaire, Satish Kumar, founder and editor of Resurgence magazine, Alex Steffen , co-founder and executive editor of WorldChanging.com, Cathy Zoi, chief executive officer of Al Gore's Alliance for Climate Protection, George Marshall, executive director of Climate Outreach and Information Network, Jules Peck, Quality of Life Policy Group director, Robert Webb, founder and managing director of XCO2 and Quiet Revolution, Anthony Turner, founder and managing director of Carbon Sense, Ed Gillespie, and co-founder and creative director of sustainability consultancy Futerra.
