Thank you & Think Green ! Jessica ;)

Did you know that a recent Gallup survey discovered that 94 percent of all consumers prefer to do business with companies that demonstrate that they care about the environment?

A brand or company name instantly communicates the essence of your organisation so it is crucial to get the message spot on.

Attaching a green eco friendly tag to a quality iconic logo design is more than adding green grass colours, leafy embellishments and recycling symbols to the design formula.

What truly makes logo design eco-conscious & environmentally friendly? There are numerous factors that contribute to an overall green company logo design or eco brand identity. But let’s (for now) leave the bare essential logo design stages aside, here are my ten tips to green-up your business logo concept design.

Top 10 eco friendly company logo design ingredients:

1. Think about the lifecycle of your concept design.
2. Research your design steps. Where can you save money and be environmentally friendly?
3. Embrace an ethical ethos (corporate social responsibility) & make your green efforts sincere.
4. Brainstorm and create your designs in an eco-minded workspace.
5. Encourage the clients to opt for green and eco friendly solutions during the design stages.
6. What impact does the design process (for example materials) have on the environment? Goal target set on minimal.
7. Demonstrate the company’s commitment to the environment in your core brand proposal.
8. Leave as teeny ecological footprints as possible.
9. Balance requirements with environmentally friendly measures to maintain a sustainable & renewable method of design delivery.
10. Think outside the green box of eco ideas; keep up to date with new eco-friendly technologies and ethics from around the world and try incorporating them into your eco logo design concept.

This eco-friendly tip is one for each and every one – home & office (yes that includes you also). The best thing about this green initiative is; it doesn’t take much effort (hurray) and can make a considerable bearing on reducing negative impact on our environment.

Small eco ideas, big changes – we love it! Let’s look further into how to:

Green your computer

Your computer already contributes a great deal towards you being eco, for example: You shop online (+ save fuel) and browse online trough catalogues and newspapers (bye bye paper).

So here are my 6 simple steps to turn your PC / Printer green:

1. Set up your computer to hibernate.
2. Open the power settings of your computer and set them to optimal energy use.
3. Utilize refilled ink cartridges and as added bonus safe some money as well
4. Use recycled paper (or even better go paperless).
5. Give your computer breathing space – Make sure air can flow freely around; this keeps the fan cooler and uses less energy.
6. Evidently when not in use turn it off (and I mean really turn it off – not on stand-by): computer, printer scanner etc

Now let’s make the effort in fine tuning your computer to the green side.

I have noticed a great rise of new buzzing eco talk in the studio here, so much so I thought it would be fun to write them down and post them on our blog here. See if you know them all – I bet you don’t (bear in mind we are enormously inventive so I am pretty sure that some of these eco terms are a spur-of-the-moment fabricated designer lingua franca)

Eco – Green and Sustainable have become everyday words mixed into our typical “designer” dialogues. So after taken some straightforward (during lunch-time scribble) notes here is my top 100 eco words we use in our design studio. (My initial idea was to compose a top 25, but I was completely overwhelmed by the amount and regularity of the modern green language we all employ, so it turned out a top 100 in the end).

Believe it or not, I actually had oodles more written down, but let’s just leave it here for now (I am running out of time). It is rather amazing how much the eco & green keywords have risen in our daily yak.

As for me – I am about to go into a meeting … let’s see how many eco words I’ll weave into my pitch a bit later. (a rub of green might be needed)
