I don't think my house-mates are too pleased with me doing the green thing. Just heard one of them swearing in the living room at the TV just cos I'd turned it off at the plug once I'd finished with it and it wasn't being used. I'm scarred to explain myself or say it was me in case they all turn against me in their non-ethical ways.

I am now turning off many plugs in my house before i go to bed or after ive used something that doesnt need to be on constantly. This is not going as well as I had planned when living in a house full of rowdy students that just plug them in and turn them back on again after their general confusion of why it was on in the first place. Also with the summer sun the heating is now off and i have realised that putting my boiler to medium instead of wacked up to the extremes for hot water my showers aren't cold and my hot water for washing up isn't a problem at all. Hopefully this will save some co2 and some much needed saving of money.

For about three or four months now I have been low on the meat and practically a vegetarian. After a friend showed me videos of the abuse that animals go through to give us humans meat and how much of my student loan it was cutting into to buy free range I decided the best thing to do was cut down on meat and only buy it from the local butchers and free range as a special treat. This is a special treat that hasn't been in my kitchen or tummy for some time now. I was shocked to find out how meat is also producing a lot of greenhouse gasses so now I am very glad with the choices that I have made. I've learnt a lot more about cooking and have learned to really enjoy food. I always look forward to breakfast lunch and dinner more than I have for many years and enjoy cooking and preparing my own vegetarian meals. I always buy fair trade and organic fruit and veg from my local groceries. Yes its a long walk and Sainsbury's is only five mins from my house but its always worth the time and effort. I found the video on this website about looking into when vegetables are grown an eye opener to my new found love and care for food and I will try and take this on and look up the seasons of the veg.
