Get Better at Switching Things Off

Each time you do this action you will save 0.5kg of CO2

Calculation Method
Each day you remember turn off all your appliances completely you will save 0.5kg of CO2

  • Average household emits 1978kg of CO2 a year through use of electricity 1
  • 10% of electricity is wasted due to appliances being left on standby 2
  • 10% of 1979kg is 197.8kg
  • 197.8kg divided by 365 (days of the year) is 0.5kg

Devices which help get rid of standby

Intellipanel from oneclick will automatically turn off everything associated with your desktop computer when you shut down the computer and has been recommended by The Energy Saving Trust.

Standby Buster and Bye Bye Standby are remote-controlled electrical sockets that let consumers switch off multiple appliances completely rather than leaving them on standby mode.
