The calculations behind the sliders are estimates based on studies, research and official carbon data. Naturally as we're modelling behaviour we've made certain assumptions in our calculations and assumed certain criteria which we hope will fit most situations. The carbon footprint and lifecycle assessment of products is still very much an emerging area, and we'll try and update the calculations as new information becomes available. At the moment they are as rigorous as we can make them without capturing a carbon scientist and propping them in a corner with a carbon modelling kit.
